Cushman & Wakefield’s Land, Development and Planning team helps clients to plan and deliver some of the UK’s most high profile and strategic development projects including complex brownfield development, mixed use town centre regeneration, employment areas including Enterprise Zones, new communities and infrastructure-led development and housing estate renewal.

Job Description

As part of the team’s ongoing growth, we are currently seeking an Associate to join our Leeds based Land, Development and Planning team covering the Yorkshire and NE Region focussed on residential development.  

Successful candidates will have experience in all aspect of residential development, specifically in brokerage and consultancy - analysing, advising, and providing insight on strategic development projects to a client base that reflects our public and private sector focus, reflects our core areas of work (brownfield and greenfield development, mixed use town centre regeneration, new communities and infrastructure-led development and housing estate renewal) and covers our core skills including:

  • Residential land and development - brokerage and consultancy
  • Development strategy – advising clients on development potential, for example as part of masterplanning exercises
  • Viability, feasibility and funding
  • Partnering structures and procurement, for example as part of public-private partnerships delivering development schemes

Core Knowledge & Experience

  • Development advisory background for either a corporate, public sector or private practice (for more senior roles)
  • Experience of working in a large practice and/or corporate environment could be advantageous
  • An understanding of business development and client relationship management
  • Demonstrable technical competence in areas relevant to role
  •  Demonstrable understanding of market knowledge
  •  Knowledge of the residential real estate industry sector
  •  Business and report writing experience
  •  Detailed knowledge of legislation and case law relevant to role
  •  IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet)
  • Development appraisal experience– financial modelling skills eg using Argus, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to analyse and undertake detailed viability analysis and feasibilities including scenario review and financing options
