The D. E. Shaw group seeks sharp, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious students to join our Investor Relations (IR) team as interns in our London office. This internship provides unique exposure to the firm’s investment strategies, products, and clients. You’ll collaborate with an inclusive, global team of investor relations professionals to help you learn, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work with us.

What you’ll do day-to-day

As an IR intern, you’ll help enhance various communication efforts, conduct prospect- and investor-focused research, complete a variety of special projects, and attend calls and video conferences with colleagues and investors.  This internship will allow you to exercise existing strengths and develop new ones through rigorous, detail-oriented training and hands-on experience.

Who we’re looking for

  • We’re interested in accomplished students who are approaching their final year of full-time study, and enthusiastically welcome those with liberal arts backgrounds (English, literature, history, political science, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is an extraordinary sensitivity to detail and a demonstrated record of intellectual achievement.
  • Candidates should have the ability to grasp financial concepts and an interest in financial markets, but no previous finance experience is necessary.

At the D. E. Shaw group, we believe the diversity of our employees is core to our strength and success. We are committed to supporting our people in work and in life, which is why we offer benefits such as a family planning and surrogacy program and a charitable gift match to all full-time employees.

Additionally, our staff-led affinity groups are pillars of our community, helping to celebrate diversity, promote leadership and development opportunities, and facilitate inclusive mentorship. Members and allies organize a wide range of educational and social programming, from expert talks to film festivals.
