Job description

Renesas' Kits and Solutions Team is looking for a Graduate (or Junior) Embedded System Development Engineer to join them on a permanent basis, with an exciting career development plan ahead of them. This team develops 'Out of The Box' products and solutions that span a wide range of skills including schematic design, embedded software and customer-facing documentation. We have accrued an industry-leading reputation for product excellence. The role is key to ensuring we retain this reputation by ensuring that our products are designed to high standards, on time while maintaining appropriate control of the product costs. The ideal candidate will join a small interactive team based at our Bourne End office near Maidenhead. This involves communication with Engineers in partner teams worldwide to capture requirements and provide support. You will gain significant experience in developing systems involving hardware PCB development, embedded software, and accurate customer documentation. We operate flexible working where appropriate, allowing for remote working when it suits the business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Negotiating, assessing and reviewing detailed and accurate requirements for embedded development of solutions with our customers and sponsors.
  • Designing, developing and debugging both embedded software and hardware PCB solutions.
  • Design & development of customer-facing demonstration code and device drivers using embedded “C” language.
  • Embedded hardware design including schematic capture and supervising PCB layout design.
  • Interacting with marketing, verification and worldwide development teams including front-line support engineers and other interested parties throughout the product life cycle.
  • Generation of high-quality user documentation to support our products.
  • Training will be provided for use of the required tools to complete the role, including EDA tooling.

The individual

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Software experience using the ‘C’ language.
  • Awareness of schematic design methods. Specific tool training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of Microcontroller and Microprocessor functionality and programming of such devices at a low level. Experience of ARM and Renesas-based microcontroller devices is preferred but not required.
  • Suitable industry experience would be beneficial.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to grow into a rounded professional Embedded Development Engineer.
