At our UK Technology Campus, we have an opportunity for a 12-month year in industry (starting in August 2022), for penultimate year students who are eager to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world.

About the role

This role offers the opportunity to work as part of the IT Digital Business Technology team.  The team works closely with Business Stakeholders to deliver high quality continuous improvement across our IT systems and business solutions.  You will have the opportunity to see how different teams across IT collaborate to deliver outcomes for the business as well as gain experience of how Delivery works within the IT industry.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the core Business Analysis techniques by actively carrying out the following activities whilst working towards greater independence over the course of your internship.

  • Assisting the business to accurately capture business requirements
  • Participating in requirements gathering activities and documenting the outcome
  • Assisting the business and IT team by ensuring the business processes and requirement are understood and articulated for the technical team to construct appropriate solutions
  • Creating documentation for business process and system flows
  • Assisting team in prioritising enhancements and defects
  • Assisting the Testing phase by reviewing test scenarios for both systems and business testing
  • Testing enhancements and defects
  • Updating core documentation or training guides
  • Attending meetings and document minutes
  • Maintaining tickets within Jira to ensure they actively represent the status

Working with the team and interacting across business stakeholders, you’ll need to be comfortable learning from others, but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions. Apart from a big interest in IT, you will need to be an inquisitive self-starter who is passionate about learning and creative in problem solving.

For the duration of your internship, you will have regular performance conversations as well as opportunities for development to enable you to build your reputation within the team, and this could be just the start. We’ll be looking to offer our high performing interns to return on our graduate programme.

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start, so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn, and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. You’ll need to:

  • Be studying towards a relevant degree discipline. This can be in any subject area, but motivation and attitude are important to us, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for business analytics
  • Be able to commit to a 12-month placement, commencing in August 2022
  • Be able to evidence your passion for delivering projects, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities
  • Be able to thrive in Dyson’s fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and service management and an understanding of project management methodologies would advantageous.
  • Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious future plans
