The team works with the whole business to understand what solutions they need, from digital and infrastructure services globally to project delivery and operational support.

At our UK Technology Campus, we have an opportunity for a 12-month year in industry (starting in the September 2022), for penultimate year students who are eager to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world. From day one, you’ll be tasked with projects to enhance your existing skills and stretch you out of your comfort zone.

About the role

This role offers the opportunity to work as part of the IT Digital Strategy, Platforms and Enablement team.  The team works closely with Business Stakeholders to establish and lead the IT systems strategy, manage our core platforms and work in the mission control of IT.  You will have the opportunity to see how technology plays an integral part of a modern innovative business. You will build skills in IT strategy, architecture, portfolio management, cloud and automation capabilities.

  • Working with the IT Strategy team to build review and update the IT strategy aligned to the business strategic intents
  • Gain an understanding of how we co-ordinate across the IT areas to drive a consistent architecture aligned to the IT strategy
  • Assisting the IT portfolio team in co-ordinating the delivery of programmes across IT and the wider business
  • Joining a programme to support the PMO lead in delivering a programme of work.
  • Assisting team with reporting and analysing IT performance
  • Work with our Centres of Excellence to drive business success
  • Supporting innovation management with our strategic partners (Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc…)

Working with the team and interacting across business stakeholders, you’ll need to be comfortable learning from others, but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions. Apart from a big interest in IT, you will need to be an inquisitive self-starter who is passionate about learning and creative in problem solving.

For the duration of your internship, you will have regular performance conversations as well as opportunities for development to enable you to build your reputation within the team, and this could be just the start. We’ll be looking to offer our high performing interns to return on our graduate programme.

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start, so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn, and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. You’ll need to:

  • Be studying towards a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, IT, Business, or related degree discipline 
  • Able to commit to a 12-month placement, commencing in August 2022
  • Be able to evidence your passion for delivering projects, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities
  • Be able to thrive in Dyson’s fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and service management and an understanding of project management methodologies would advantageous.
  • Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious future plans
