Finance Graduate Programme 2021
As a graduate, you’ll be looking to make an impact – using your skills, knowledge and passion to achieve great things. So how about taking on the challenge of beating climate change?
Being Britain’s biggest generator of low carbon electricity, EDF are not only talking about climate change, we’re doing something about it. We’re committed to reducing carbon emissions to zero, generating power from clean sources like wind, nuclear and solar, leading the charge for electric vehicles and investing in new carbon cutting technologies.
We proudly work together to champion a low carbon lifestyle and collaborate widely in our search for innovations to achieve more. Build your future with us. Share our vision. Together we’ll help Britain achieve net zero.
Our 3-year Finance Graduate Programme will give you all the preparation needed for a rewarding finance career at the pinnacle of the energy sector - including supporting your studies to gain a chartered accounting qualification with the world's largest professional body of management accountants, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ("CIMA").
The Training Programme
Following a week-long induction with graduates from all our schemes at our state of the art facility, Cannington Court (Somerset) in September 2021, you'll start your journey with us as you work your way through a series of 1-year long job rotations, building a well-rounded understanding of finance at EDF, whilst developing extensive knowledge of how the energy market and industry operates. As a fully integrated energy company, EDF offers you the unique opportunity to undertake roles in the context of Operational Generation Assets all the way through to the Sale of Energy to residential and Business Customers.
The rotational nature of the scheme means that you'll need to be flexible with location and should expect to move between our UK offices throughout your 3 years. Each graduate will have a unique experience on the programme and placements are based on business need. An example of a 3-year rotation could see you spending your first year at our Finance Centre of Excellence in East Kilbride, followed by a year in our Customer Operations Centre in Croydon, before completing your final year with Nuclear Development at Hinkley Point C in Somerset - Europe's largest construction project.
As well as the 'on the role' finance training that you'll receive, you will also undertake a formal Professional Skills Training programme with the rest of the commercial graduate community. This includes training in Communication and Commercial Awareness skills, Presenting with Confidence, Influencing and Negotiating, as well as other Leadership and Project Management skills.
You'll have all the financial and study leave support you need to study for the CIMA qualification and the rotational nature of the placements will allow you to cover the practical requirements of your qualification with ease. Wherever you go, you can expect real work from the word go - including forecasting and budgeting activities, examining operating costs, getting involved in major projects and preparing reports for senior leadership.
The combination of experience, exposure and training that you'll get during the scheme will prepare you to become far more than just an accountant. At the end of the 3-year programme, you should have gained the business experience and professional skills to apply to one of many exciting full-time finance roles available at EDF.
Post scheme, you'll continue to develop your skills with the support of your career manager and with the right ambition you could expect to be in a managerial or leadership role within a few years.
