Reporting into the Live Operations Manager, the Junior Encoding Engineer will will be responsible for executing successful streaming delivery of multiple live sporting events to our customers, engineering development support.

The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in streaming technologies, live events and broadcast media. Have some experience delivering/supporting live streamed events and/or working in a 24/7 live broadcasting facility, or has experience handling live video content or similar. S/he should be looking to start their career in a fast-paced, 21st Century broadcast environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • To work confidently in live streaming workflows.
  • Work with bespoke content management systems.
  • Gain knowledge of RTMP/HLS/MPEG-ts/Zixi/Wowza/AWS/CDN’s and other related streaming architecture.
  • Take the ownership and execution of multiple live streaming events.
  • Configure streaming encoders and monitor streaming returns.
  • Manage the encoding and streaming resources.
  • Confirm creation and delivery content to partners.
  • Effectively communicate the status of each project.
  • Deliver workflow notifications, coordination and follow-up to maintain service level agreements.
  • Take a deep dive in to Live IP Broadcasting.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge & Experience)

  • Degree in Digital Broadcast Technology or a related course, or vocational work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and GSuite.
  • Mac and PC proficiency.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Candidates should be able to lift 22Kgs – due to occasional manual labour responsibilities.

Desirable

  • Understanding of video streaming and other related software packages.                                          
  • Basic understanding of Networks and IT infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of broadcast, satellite, IP acquisition pathways.
  • Experience of video production and, or editing and standards.
  • Experience with hardware and monitoring platforms. 
  • Basic understanding of the processes and procedures involved in delivering live video content.

Working Conditions

  • This is a permanent position
  • Please note, we are operating on a remote working set up until lockdown restrictions have been lifted. Thereafter, the role will be based at Stockley Park, Uxbridge (free on-site parking)
  • Shift pattern to include nights, weekends and public holidays (4 on 3 off 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts morning , swing, night)
  • Endeavor Streaming  is a 24/7/365 Live Broadcast operation.
