In this role you will get to work in various areas of the Finance Department to learn how we add value, support the business, maintain compliance & contribute to a variety of projects. Our aim is for you to gain a real breadth and depth of experience that will support your study & career development into a well-rounded Business partner.

Key accountabilities

  • Gaining exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable & general ledger accounting.
  • Gaining exposure to and supporting the production of the management accounts – Income statement & Balance sheet.
  • Involvement in the preparation for half year end and year end accounts.
  • Involvement in the year end statutory audit and evidence provision.
  • Understanding and assisting with forecasting & budgeting procedures.
  • Assisting with a review & updating of current Finance policies and procedures.
  • Internal procedural testing to ensure compliance to local & Group policies.
  • Undertaking projects as required by the Finance team & wider business.
  • Various reporting & analysis.

Key experiences and skills required

  • Have achieved a 2:2 degree (or higher) ideally, but not limited to, in an Accounting, Business or Finance-related discipline.
  • Analytical – comfortable and competent in managing large datasets.
  • Strong Excel skills – VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot tables, IF statements, nested IF etc
  • Adaptable, analytical, open-minded with a desire to learn, improve and develop.
  • Be confident in building effective working relationships and working as part of a team.
  • Be able to pick up and deliver projects, with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Have a flexible approach and responsible attitude to work and driving improvement.
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.

Desirables skills, qualifications and experience required

  • Willingness to study and become a member for ACCA/CIMA qualifications.
  • Experience using Phocus, Tableau or Business Intelligence tools would be advantageous.
  • ERP experience would be advantageous.
  • Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Word.
