ERM is seeking Graduates to join our Merger & Acquisition (M&A) team as a Junior Consultant to work with our clients in the Infrastructure Fund sector in the UK.

Our Mergers & Acquisitions team is currently going through a period of significant growth in the market whilst also servicing an existing large client base. Our consultants in the M&A team work on a wide range of interesting technical and strategic advisory projects in power, utilities, telecoms and transportation infrastructure: technical, EHS (environmental, health and safety risk), climate change and social impact due diligence, ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy and sustainable finance. To support the successful delivery of this growth ambition, the team are looking to appoint a Junior Consultant to manage and deliver client projects and support business development initiatives. You will work with colleagues from M&A, Low Carbon Economy Transition and Corporate Sustainability teams in building ERM’s position as a leading Advisor for Infrastructure Investors.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (2:1) in a STEM subject such as engineering or similar 
  • Master’s degree in a business field is preferred or equivalent experience within finance or business
  • Intellectual curiosity and keen interest in sustainability, technical, commercial, ESG issues as well as power, utilities, telecoms and transportation infrastructure
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • We undertake a lot of complex analysis, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis; strong Excel capabilities are desirable
  • Good written and oral presentation skills
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus

We are currently working from home and this role will be based in one of our UK offices after COVID

Role responsibilities

The Junior Consultant will support the team with successful delivery of ERM proposals and M&A projects in line with our vision, values and our strategic imperatives. Your role will be primarily focused on project delivery whilst contribute to client relationship development and business development.

Main responsibilities are (not limited to)

  • Support the delivery of M&A due diligence projects; working closely with project team members to complete tasks within project scope, budget and schedule requirements
  • Assist project team members to provide an excellent, clear and high quality of standards on project deliverables
  • Becoming the first point-of-contact for updates and communicate between clients, project teams and Partner-in Charge
  • Work with consulting engagement teams across the range of M&A projects to contribute to the business development process which may involve proposal writing
  • Build on existing client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development support

From time to time, intra-UK and overseas travel to client locations and other ERM offices may be required after COVID.
