Located in Newport, South Wales is the Santoprene TPV plant with a production capability of 100 kT / annum. With a sister plant in Pensacola , Florida we are the largest global producer of TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizate) which is produced via a reactive extrusion process across multiple production lines. TPV is a plastic that behaves like rubber but can be processed like a thermoplastic and is used across the automotive and industrial / consumer markets. Being fully recyclable and with growing opportunities in the electric vehicle market, this is an exciting time to be joining our team – we have recently invested $110M in new production capability at Newport to meet increased market demand

Joining us as a Contact Engineer you will have day-to-day responsibility for the process support and trouble-shooting of multiple production lines, ensuring safe and quality focused manufacture. In addition you will be responsible for driving longer term safety, quality, reliability and cost improvements

What role would you play within our team.

Supporting the business team, which drives the safe and quality focused manufacturing operation at the Newport site

  • Taking accountability for delivering high quality process monitoring:
  • Driving reliability and predictability through effective daily, weekly and monthly unit monitoring. 
  • Driving sustainability through maintaining evergreen and up-to-date unit monitoring tools.
  • Prompt communication of process variables trending in the wrong direction, which could cause process safety events or not meet the run plan.
  • Driving operating envelopes compliance during unit start-ups and shutdowns.
  • Providing prompt technical input and high quality troubleshooting on daily optimization and constraints management.
  • Providing input into long term strategy and plans for operational and cost improvement.

Who are we looking for

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Hold professional body memberships (IChemE), ideally working towards chartered status

Previous work experience on summer or industrial placements in a chemical plant environment and a willingness to travel would be advantageous, but are not essential
