Facebook is seeking a Security Analyst Intern to join our Product Security team in London.

From building the coding frameworks to help engineers build secure code to developing automated detection tools to help spot bugs at scale to running one of the oldest bug bounty programs in the industry to working alongside product teams to build security into each feature, our Product Security team is committed to finding, fixing, and preventing bugs across our platform.

This is a 12 week summer internship opportunity in London, starting June 2022. Your title will be Security Analyst, Intern - Vulnerability Management. 

Your responsibilities 

  • You will be responsible for validating security vulnerabilities from Facebook’s Vulnerability Management pipeline and helping protect our production fleet
  • You will gain insights from Facebook's codebase to assess the maximum impact of each vulnerability and work with owning teams to implement remediation plans
  • You will work on a project to improve our team's vulnerability triage experience
  • More broadly, you will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of Security Engineers, Production Engineers, and cross-functional partners

About you

Minimum qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Cyber Security or a related field
  • Strong understanding of web, server, and infrastructure security issues
  • Familiarity with Linux package management systems and utilities such as RPM, yum, and dnf
  • Familiarity with CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures)
  • Solid communication skills

Preferred qualifications

 

  • Experience finding web, server, or infrastructure vulnerabilities and requesting CVEs for those vulnerabilities
  • Contributions to the security community (e.g. blogs, presentations, talks)
  • Familiarity with a scripting language (e.g. Bash)
  • Contributions to open source software
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
