Role outline   

As a placement student in quantity surveying, you'll engage in daily site activities and report to senior engineers. You'll collaborate with industry experts to deepen your understanding of your project. With mentorship and coaching, you'll face exciting challenges that will help you build a successful career in this dynamic field. Expect some travel to various construction sites and company locations as part of the role.

Location outline

Our key site locations for these roles will primarily be at wind farm projects across the central belt of Scotland. This includes major cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dundee. These sites offer a unique blend of urban accessibility and the expansive rural landscapes necessary for effective wind energy production, making them ideal for our initiatives in sustainable energy development.

What you'll do

As a Placement Quantity Surveyor your duties will include: 

  • Assist with analysing subcontract quotations.  
  • Assist with reviewing conditions and/or qualifications prior to submission of a tender.  
  • Assist with the preparation of interim applications, including works executed, materials on site and works by subcontractors is submitted to the Client’s team by agreed deadline.  
  • Assist with contract variations and help evaluate and measure these with Senior Quantity Surveyors  
  • Assist with the procurement of subcontractors.  
  • Assist with generating payments and distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.  
  • Contribute to the submission of weekly financial forecasting including the assembling of contract costs.  

Required skills and experience

  • Studying a Quantity Surveying degree   
  • Hold a full manual UK driving license  
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the commercial aspects of engineering and looking for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity 
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to work flexibly in a team and be a hard worker
