In 2022 we will be running two vacation schemes between June and July. As a vacation scheme student, you are a potential trainee and are therefore treated as such. You will sit with either a partner or a solicitor and you will experience 'real work' of the type that a trainee would undertake.

Other activities will include attending lunchtime seminars, visits to the courts and departmental presentations. Our aim is to offer vacation scheme students a real insight into what it would be like working as a trainee at the firm.

Vacation Scheme key facts

  • If you wish to apply for a place on our 2022 Vacation Scheme, you must do so between 1 November 2021 and 31 January 2022.
  • Applications are welcomed from both law and non-law students. Undergraduate law students should apply at the earliest in their penultimate year of study and non-law students at the earliest in their final year of study.
  • Each year we offer 14 places, 7 on each scheme.
  • We pay all students an allowance of £300 gross per week.

What we look for

We welcome applications from both law and non-law students. Amongst other things, we look for candidates with a strong academic background (a minimum of 320 UCAS points from three A Level results excluding General Studies and a 2.1 or above at degree level). When reviewing your application we also consider work experience (both legal and non-legal), sporting and other extra-curricular achievements and any positions of responsibility held. We also like to find out a little bit about you and your personality and what has inspired you to choose a career in law.

Application Process

Once the deadline has passed, all applications will be reviewed by the graduate recruitment panel. Candidates will then be shortlisted and invited to attend an assessment day. Please note that there is only one stage to this process and that candidates will be advised as to what to expect prior to attending one of the assessment days.
