We are currently recruting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team based in Birmingham. This is a full time permanent role working Monday to Friday. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support to senior surveying staff on one or a number of projects to ensure that projects are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers’ expectations. An Assistant Quantity Surveyor will provided with training and full support, including support perusing academic qualification and/or through the allocation of an experienced mentor to support the development journey.
The project
Assistant Quantity Surveyor duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract
- Input of timely and accurate information, including direct operative and subcontractor/supplier information and the application of the schedule of rates
- Cost allocation of purchase orders and invoices including checking against order values
- Monitoring and analysis of management information relating to material and subcontractor spend
- Supporting the SQS in the preparation and timely reporting of information including: Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC) and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control
- Onboarding suppliers, this will include overseeing subcontractor order compliance
- Maintain a high quality telephone manner
- Provide direct support to the commercial management function

- Previous experience in a similar role within the Repairs/Social Housing sector
- Excellent numeracy and organisation skills
- Use data interrogation skills
- Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
- Basic contractual awareness
- Negotiating and communication skills
Desired criteria
- Knowledge of NHF SOR codes
- Re measurement skills
- Commercial contractor exposure
- Previous social housing repairs and maintenance/voids experience
