An opportunity has arisen to join the commercial team in the West Midlands with Frontier, the largest crop production & grain marketing company in the UK.

We are looking for a Trainee Farm Trader and Agronomist to join us on a permanent full-time basis and would consider applications from candidates across the full Midlands area.

Our Farm Traders and Agronomists play a key role in facilitating our business by promoting Frontier’s services and products and building outstanding customer relationships.

We are seeking candidates with the ability, skills and desire to develop a career in a commercial sales role.

A background in sales is not essential as we are looking for people with a strong interest in agriculture who will integrate and be a key member of the team. Full training will be provided.

  • Ability to build outstanding professional relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills
  • High standard of numeracy and literacy and good attention to detail
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel
  • FACTS and /or BASIS qualification (while not essential) would be a great advantage.
  • The ability to become FACTS and/or BASIS qualified within 2 years.

The Role – Key responsibilities

  • Build a comprehensive knowledge of Frontier’s products and services.
  • Promote, manage and develop Frontier’s business, products and services.
  • Sustain and develop business relationships with existing and potential customers to facilitate the growth and development of the Frontier business.
  • Develop and support the customer in line with the Frontier Values of Integrity, Customer Focus and Expertise.
  • Purchase Grain, Oilseeds and Pulses from Farmer customers both established and new.
  • Use business information and technical knowledge to maximise the potential of each customer.
  • Sell seed, fertilisers and other inputs and services to farmer customers and develop new sales opportunities.
  • Keep up to date with competitor activity and information and report on as appropriate.
  • Document and manage product and service problems raised by farmer customers.
  • Liaise with Frontier’s Commodity Traders/Product Managers on product availability and pricing policy.
  • Establish a network of colleagues from within own and across relevant departments to support your work and the needs of your customer.
  • Develop close working relationships with colleagues to support the needs of the customer.
