About the role

The Global Insurance Services Practice (GIS) is a team of approximately 200 experienced insurance professionals supported by a global network of 8,000+ colleagues. We combine deep industry knowledge with operational, technical and execution capabilities to provide transformative solutions for our clients.

Our focus is on supporting our clients to navigate the complex challenges and emerging opportunities in the insurance market.  We provide expert guidance across a wide range of diverse areas including Analytics and Data, Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Transformation, Capital Adequacy and Risk Management. We advise global, regional and specialist insurance organisations including insurers, regulators, legal firms and private equity companies, across both general and life insurance matters.

The GIS team is aligned to a number of service lines including:

  • Strategy Advisory
  • Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Advanced Analytics & Data/Digital Solutions
  • Business Transformation & Performance Improvement
  • Litigation Dispute Resolution & Claims Consulting
  • Risk, Governance & Regulatory

What you will do

As a graduate in the GIS team, you will have the opportunity to work and support multiple client engagements across individual service lines.  You will gain a broad range of experience and capabilities including an understanding of the insurance industry and the key components that drive high performance. You will work closely with senior members of the team as well as directly with clients.

Day to day tasks may include supporting the team to:

  • Conduct market analysis and industry research to identify emerging trends and new business opportunities.
  • Perform competitor analysis and benchmarking.
  • Review large volumes of data and manage complex datasets to analyse a wide range of client issues.
  • Develop analytical and financial models to provide data driven insights and recommendations to optimise business performance.
  • Support the end-to-end merger and acquisitions lifecycle including due diligence.
  • Design and implement new operating models, processes and working practices.
  • Manage the delivery of large, complex business transformation programmes.
  • Assess and manage operational, financial and regulatory risks.
  • Deliver core litigation projects including the quantification of potential liabilities.

How you will grow

Through working across different service lines and senior members of the GIS team you will gain an accelerated understanding of the insurance industry, the role of different types of organisations and the real-world challenges they are facing.

You will have the opportunity to receive support for pursuing a professional qualification, such as the Chartered Institute of Insurers, at the firm’s discretion. A coach will be assigned to you to work closely with you and guide you through your career progression and ensure you get the experience you seek at FTI.

What you will need to succeed

  • Achieved/on course to achieve a 2:1 degree in a business/numerate discipline such as Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science or related field.
  • Strong MS Excel skills (or other) with an aptitude for financial modelling and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to balance competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Bilingual language skills are preferred but not required.
