    Our aim is to nurture creative and dynamic property consultants. Working as an Assistant Planning Consultant, you will work within our Planning & Development team, getting real experience from day one on a range of exciting projects.

    About the Role

    As an Assistant Planning Consultant, you will receive support towards gaining your competencies to achieve RTPI chartership and you will be able to attend training days to further develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours. We remain at the forefront of policy making and our unrivalled knowledge of central and local government planning systems ensures our clients receive first class, impartial advice and innovative, intelligent solutions to meet their objectives.

    You will work closely with members of the London Planning team and other members of the P&D team providing them with assistance.

    The role will include carrying out and supporting on a wide variety of tasks including:

    • planning history searches;
    • reviewing planning policies;
    • preparing planning applications;
    • undertaking planning appraisals;
    • assisting with planning appeals; and
    • preparing representations to evolving planning policy documents.

    You will work with other members of the team, developing individual expertise in delivering impartial professional advice and developing innovative and intelligent solutions for our clients.

    You will build effective, commercial relationships both inside and outside of the firm, based upon developing technical expertise and outstanding communication (both written and face-to-face).

    About you

    As a graduate you will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and will be able to show you successfully applied yourself to academic study as well as wider activities, you will have excellent communication and technology skills, an eye for detail and the desire to develop your career in a first-class professional environment.

    We look for individuals who have excellent written and numeracy skills, but above all are individuals who demonstrate a passion for property and the built environment, a drive for excellent client service, and have a curiosity for how things are done and how they can be improved.

    Application process

    Our application process is pretty straightforward, we will ask for a copy of your CV and for you to answer some questions. There is no cover letter but please do take the time to answer our questions as well as you can.

    If you are successful at this stage the final round is our assessment days in mid to late December. The day is made up of group and individual exercises, as well as the opportunity to meet a number of our current graduates and others from across the firm in an informal setting to give you a sense of what it is like to work at Gerald Eve.

    Working hours

    The Firm’s core hours are from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and you may choose to start and end your day around these hours, provided you still do your 7.25 hours per day (e.g. 8.00 am – 4.30pm, 10.00 am – 6.30 pm). There is no requirement for this to be the same each day, but you are required to keep your manager informed. This position also involves out of hours working on an ‘as necessary’ basis. We are open to considering flexible working arrangements for everyone; this can be discussed during the application process or upon commencement.
