Graphcore has created a completely new processor, the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), specifically designed for artificial intelligence. The IPU’s unique architecture means developers can run current machine learning models orders of magnitude faster. More importantly, it lets AI researchers undertake entirely new types of work, not possible using current technologies, to drive the next great breakthroughs in general machine intelligence.
Graphcore’s Customer Engineering team helps our customers run their state-of-the-art AI models on the IPU. The role involves investigating software issues at every level of the software stack, from the high-level AI Python frameworks such as TensorFlow or Pytorch, down to our low-level poplar C++/assembly libraries The team's scope spans from creating and maintaining Tutorials to drive our customers' journey with the IPU to implementing optimisation techniques to help customers get the best performance from our hardware and software.
As a graduate you’ll work with all the engineering teams within Graphcore to ensure that our customers get the best experience with our product. Responsibilities include:
- Answer customers technical questions by providing them clear and suitable information.
- Help them solve software issues by applying effective investigation techniques.
- Provide them with customised recommendations on how to best use Graphcore’s tools and software in order to optimise their application.
- Contribute to Graphcore’s software stack to fix bug and to improve its usability.
- Develop example code and tutorials for customers.
- Contribute to training and documentation materials.
Graduates at Graphcore

The role requires great technical investigation skills, service aptitude, and good interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone eager to learn about our exciting new technology, who is interested in computer science, and who wants to contribute to the exciting field of AI. You will also be:
- On track to obtain a 2:1 or equivalent in a Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Machine Learning, or similar subject area
- Confident in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C++, C.
- Systematic in your approach to solving software problems and performance issues.
- Motivated working in a varied and fast-changing environment.
- Experienced in a customer facing position (it could be for an internal customer).
- Knowledgeable with experience in AI would be a plus
