Founded just over five years ago, Graphcore's growth and impact has been little short of staggering. We believe we're in a unique position as a new wave of machine learning technology begins to emerge. We see a world where technology enhances human potential and takes us into a new era of intelligence and progress that everyone can benefit from.

What we can achieve over the next few years will re-shape businesses around the world.

Graphcore has created a completely new processor, the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), specifically designed for artificial intelligence. The IPU’s unique architecture means developers can run current machine learning models orders of magnitude faster. More importantly, it lets AI researchers undertake entirely new types of work, not possible using current technologies, to drive the next great breakthroughs in general machine intelligence.

The Team

Graphcore’s Product Test team design and implement testing methods to identify non-conformities or defects in our IPU-based systems before shipment to our customers. This requires a very broad skill base across the team that of course includes a thorough understanding of semiconductor (IC) and PCB based system manufacture, but also an awareness of the wide range of tools and techniques that can be used to do "test". This includes fundamental electronics, various software types, statistics, some basic mechanical and thermal engineering, and sometimes a bit of chemistry.

The Role

As a graduate in this multi-disciplinary team, you’ll work on the IPU’s hardware and software platforms using the latest tools and systems to identify and help resolve errors in manufacture or design.

As well as applying a creative approach to test design, you’ll also need to collate, analyse and present the findings to our specialist engineering teams for resolution. This requires an iterative and a methodical approach to problem-solving, with an eagerness to learn as you go.

Graduates at Graphcore

A tailored onboarding and induction programme, that will get you up to speed with life at Graphcore, including a deep understanding of how the business operates. During your induction technical specialists will host knowledge sharing sessions, providing you the opportunity to build your network.

Once in your team, you can expect hands on experience from day one and to make a real contribution. A typical day would involve working closely with peers and your manager to solve challenges as they arise.

You will also benefit from a buddy, mentor and access to a talent development team that will support your softer skill development.

About You

We are looking for technical engineers with a creative flair, adaptable approach and curiosity to learn. In addition, you should;

  • Be on track to obtain a 2:1 or equivalent in an Electronics Engineering or similar degree subject area
  • Have a systematic approach to solving problems in complex electronics systems
  • Enjoy working on your own electronics hobby projects beyond your university course
  • Be able to demonstrate strong data and statistical analysis skills
  • Enjoy working in a varied and fast-changing environment
  • Demonstrate strong team-working and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Confident using Python, Linux, Bash, Git
  • Have some experience working with semiconductors or microelectronics

We are not looking for an instant expert but graduates with the hunger to learn, develop and contribute to Graphcore's future.

Benefits

In addition to a very competitive salary, you will also have the freedom to make your own choices that work for you, starting with unlimited holiday. in addition, we offer a pension scheme and to support your well-being we provide health insurance, life cover and an employee assistance programme.
