The Role

Our teams manage a wide range of qualitative and quantitative domestic and international projects for an enviable list of high-profile clients across a wide range of categories; everyone works on a mix of clients and markets. 

Our work is brand and communications focused and we are growing our capabilities more broadly to offer a variety of solutions for our client's issues. One of these growing capabilities is using social media data to complement other sources of data to help inform our client's strategy.

The Modellers team uses predictive models and other statistical methods (multivariate techniques, clustering/segmentation, conjoint/choice modelling) to provide strategic marketing insights to our wide range of clients. However, the job goes beyond that, as our statisticians consult with the client services team, programmers, project managers and external clients.

As a Junior Marketing Scientist within The Modellers, you will assist with research design and will be responsible for analysing data from experiments, surveys, and other sources. You will be client-facing and will have the opportunity to not just run models but help shape the research methodology and impact our client’s business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

The day to day responsibilities of a Junior Marketing Scientist include:

  • Running advanced statistical analyses, as directed, by senior members of the team
    • Eventually developing into a more independent role
  • Debriefing Hall & Partners client service teams regarding analysis results, in person
    • Eventually developing into a client facing role
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as client priorities change
  • Be able to work independently but contribute to the team ethos
  • Learn and develop quickly to support senior team members with ever more complex and intricate techniques learned through on the job training
  • Our analysts work with both internal teams and external clients via e-mail, phone calls and face to face workshops. Our Marketing Scientists review and contribute to proposals, survey design and report writing and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with statistical software such as:
    • SPSS and/or R (essential)
    • MS Office including advanced Excel including LOOKUPs (essential) and VBA (desirable; essential for senior role)
    • SAS, SQL, Python (not essential)
  • Practical experience running analyses and predictive models such as:
    • Linear and/or logistic regression (essential)
    • Other key driver methods e.g. Shapley, Kruskal, Elastic Net (desirable)
    • Factor analysis (desirable; essential for senior role) 
  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in statistics, economics, or other quantitative area background
  • Ideally 1-2 years working in marketing sciences or a similar field, but may consider recent graduates of a suitable caliber
