At HSF, we're passionate about nurturing diverse talent. In collaboration with Rare Recruitment, we're proud to present the Roger Leyland Memorial Scholarship, a unique initiative designed to support aspiring lawyers from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. 

Roger Leyland was the first Black partner at a leading City firm. He served as a sitting governor on the Council of the College of Law, demonstrating a deep commitment to the growth and development of young lawyers. This scholarship is a tribute to his legacy and a testament to our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

  • £9,000 awarded over three years of study. 
  • A guaranteed place on our First Year Workshop, offering a glimpse into life at HSF. 
  • A dedicated support network within the firm, including an assigned mentor, partner contact, and trainee buddy. A guaranteed spot on our Summer Vacation Scheme in your second year of study (conditional on achieving the required benchmark in first year exams). 
  • Personal study sessions with Rare’s Melissa Andrewes, a former Head of Students at the University of Law.
