Hitachi Energy has an exciting Finance Graduate opportunity joining our finance team based in either Stone (Staffordshire) or Birmingham.
The role
This role will be to provide general financial support to the Front office finance staff whilst undertaking learning and development to progress with an appropriate financial qualification such as CIMA.
The successful candidate will work within the central finance team, supporting financial transactions and processes. They will also spend time with other finance departments in the business to further their learning and provide support. There is also scope to work remotely with teams in Ireland, India and Estonia
Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake a learning and development program leading to a Finance based qualification.
- Manage business needs with academic and practical studies.
- Proactively participate in their own development plan as agreed with the line manager.
- Work within the finance team to support accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and processes.
- Ensure that all interactions with our customers, suppliers and colleagues are professional and positive.
- Operate in compliance with internal guidelines and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.
- Act as a role model for the organisation’s values and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use, maintain, and support the development of financial systems and processes.
- Support cash collection and credit risk management through liaising with customers and business controllers.
- Support query and issue resolution with our suppliers.
- Process journals and complete account reconciliations.
- Support the production of management accounts, including monitoring expenditure, investigating variances, and updating financial forecasts.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and support financial audits.
- Undertake other regular and ad hoc accounting or administrative activities as required.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelors degree in finance or similar
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of motivation, perseverance and use of initiative
- High level of numeracy
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel
