Looking for a challenge?

Skilled Tax Professionals are the foundation of HM Revenue & Customs and have access to a wide variety of career paths — no two days are the same. You could spend one day helping prepare a tribunal case for a major avoidance scheme and the next in tutorials.

The three-year Tax Specialist Programme has a starting salary of £28,652 (£32,722 London). As a graduate trainee, you will work towards an Honours degree in ‘Professional Studies in Taxation’ accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University. The training is modular, with study leave and tutorials occupying half of your working week. The rest of the time you will receive mentor support, advice and supervision and be given early responsibility and increasingly challenging assignments. On successful completion you will be promoted on a salary currently of £48,868 (£55,006 London).

After your training, you could be: working with blue chip companies, getting involved with international taxation issues, managing VAT avoidance teams, leading on corporation tax or fraud investigations, developing policy, resolving tax disputes, offering specialist advice to a whole range of people or become part of a specialist taskforce targeting high profile and high risk tax avoiders. You must have a 2:2 degree or equivalent in any subject (at application or before September 2018) to fulfil our requirements.
