About the People Team and Your Role

This is a 12 month University Placement from August 2022 to August 2023 for students in their penultimate year of study. The post holder must be an undergraduate studying any degree but will not have graduated at the start of the placement. The post holder will be expected to provide evidence from the university to demonstrate they will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year.

The People Team manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle and are vital to the continued growth and success of the business. Working closely with the People Advisors and wider People Team, you will provide HR support on all aspects of HR across our Head Office, and wider group businesses.

The HR Intern will support the People Advisors in the provision of an exceptional HR advisory service across the group, while being mentored in all aspects of HR within THG and developing a sound working knowledge of employment law. In addition to assisting in various People projects, the post holder will shadow and support the People Advisors on cases until they’re able to support managers with casework independently.

Responsibilities

  • Support People Advisors and management to proactively manage absence and performance
  • Provide note-taking support in meetings
  • Answer first-line HR queries from managers
  • Maintenance of employee files and casework administration, including the preparation of any letters.
  • Shadow and support advisors to develop knowledge on a range of case types, including Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance Management, Flexible Working and Change Management.
  • Participate in various people projects and engagement activities as directed

This role would suit a dynamic, adaptable and resilient individual who is quick to learn, eager to excel in their career, and confident with operating in a fast paced, high change environment. The post holder will also be mentored by various members of the wider people team to further develop skills & knowledge.

Role Requirements

  • Must be a 2nd year University student looking for a year in industry placement
  • Computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office apps
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented and high level of accuracy with outputs
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels
  • Ability to manage own time and prioritise workload to consistently meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; polite, friendly and professional to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Shows a strong commitment to understanding the business and meeting stakeholder needs
