We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Flavorist Assistant to join our experienced and creative Snacks team based at our facilities in Haverhill, Suffolk.

Primary function is to maintain the snack lab raw material stock and provide a support function to the snacks team by compounding of seasonings and snack applications.

Reporting to the Snacks Team Lead / Senior Snacks Flavourist the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing stock

Daily Stock Management

  • Adhering to IFF protocols for proper sampling, hazards labelling etc.
  • Replacing expired materials – sampling on site or ordering from other sites.
  • Replenishing diminishing stock – sampling on site or ordering from other sites.

Lab Maintenance

Monitoring and maintaining lab supplies

  • Reporting faulty equipment for repair.
  • Sourcing and ordering replacement items as and when required.
  • Monitoring, maintaining & replacing equipment e.g. if borrowed or showing wear & tear.

Administration

SAP/IFFMan, Daily Stock Management, Sample Retention

  • Record keeping of raw material stock – updating lot numbers & expiry dates of fresh stock etc.
  • Proper use of IFF systems for efficient support of team requirements.
  • Allowing team visibility of the lab stock raw material record and on-going status of raw material orders etc.

Compounding & Application Support

  • Supporting the development process of regional briefs.
  • Compounding seasoning formulations and preparing finished product samples for evaluation.
  • Preparing project sample submissions – finished product and seasonings.
  • Sending samples as required to customers, colleagues etc.
  • Keeping and management of retentions from every project submission – links to ‘Submission Database’ team responsibility.
  • Functionality testing of seasonings
  • Creating and maintaining of seasoning Gold Standards as per agreement with customer
  • Trial support in plant

Job requirements

To be successful within this role you will require the following skills & experience:

  • Previous Laboratory Technician experience 
  •  BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry & Biochemistry or related disciplines
  • Passion for food
  • Excellent sensory abilities
  • Creative, self-starter with ability to demonstrate exceptional service
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate project management, time management, good written and verbal communication skills and ability to build relationships within team and externally with customers
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
