The Energy Upstream team deliver oil and gas databases and software, energy transition, energy supply and demand forecasts and comprehensive data on transactions at the global and regional market levels. Our renowned and respected energy experts help leaders around the world to make informed and justified decisions.

Your Role

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating computer models and digital content of key geological basins around the globe. The candidate will use the IHS database to build the models and will have knowledge of geological processes, petroleum geology, data modelling and data transformation. Some computer programming skills would also be beneficial

The candidate will also help design and improve the current workflows in place, as well as developing new and innovative digital content to the geological basins product.

About You

Job Requirements

  • The candidate will work within the Basin Team and will be expected to have the following skills:
  • A sound geoscience background and understanding
  • Data visualisation and geological modelling preferably with an industry recognised software such as Kingdom
  • Ability to work with large and varied datasets, data transformation, analysis and calibration
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to process geophysical data a bonus (Seismic, Electromagnetic, Magnetic, Gravity etc).
  • Understanding of a database environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and self-motivation
  • Able to work collaboratively and virtually with a wider globally distributed team
  • Interest in the energy industry

Qualifications

  • Educated to a Degree, Masters or PhD level in Geosciences
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS or similar software
  • Knowledge of internationally recognised geological modelling software such as Kingdom
  • Computer programming SQL/Python preferable
