The team

You will join as part of the EMEA Finance Business Team assisting the OPEX group. The group is responsible for the overall forecasting and analysis of EMEA Commercial and G&A Organizations.

The role

This role is a 12-month internship starting in July 2022, finishing in July 2023. Based at our offices in Granta Park, Cambridge. In this role you will support the OPEX group forecasting and analysis process, working closely with the finance partners to deliver an accurate forecast and help drive financial performance towards targets.

Responsibilities will include

  • Produce monthly analysis of operating expense variances against targets, providing input to reports to communicate business performance.
  • Support the team in the development of regional financial models, creating improvements and efficiencies where applicable to improve the level of forecasting/analysis.
  • Significant input towards annual financial budgeting/planning process.
  • Contribute towards the success of Finance Business Team’s ongoing projects, helping to move the team from being a forecasting function to becoming true value-added Business Partners who ‘tell the story’.
  • Produce ad-hoc analysis as required to support specific reporting against strategic initiatives where required.
  • Liaise with Accounting on month-end queries/issues where necessary to resolve promptly and minimize impact to close period.

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, ideally financial/Economics, or another numerate discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a confident communicator.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic with a strong ability to work well independently and within a team, motivated by continuous improvement and high-quality output.
  • Highly organized, with good time management skills, keen attention to detail, and an ability to multi-task
  • Ability to build a network and comfortable interacting with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to summarise complex matters.
  • Ability to identify a problem and think through an approach to develop a solution.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • You have ambitions to study towards a professional accountancy qualification e.g., CIMA.
