The role

As a Bioinformatics Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain real-life work experience in a fast-moving environment and help solve problems and issues that are relevant to cancer complexity in the Medical Genomics Research group.

Our goal is to develop cutting-edge prototypes and tools to identify clinically relevant findings and molecular biomarkers in cancer Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and Whole Transcriptome Sequencing (WTS). Responsibilities will include

  • Applying best practice statistical and computational methods to analyse cancer genomes and transcriptomes
  • Developing, maintaining or improving prototypes for analysis pipelines and clinical reports  (supported by a mentor/project manager)
  • Develop and maintain awareness of advances in cancer research
  • Deliver timely results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

About you

  • For a Bachelors, Masters or PhD student in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences or a related field. Must be at least in the second year of a Bachelors
  • Familiarity with Linux and Python or R is required. Experience with version control tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and genomics is required
  • Experience with processing or analysing cancer NGS datasets is a big plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational skills: ability to prioritise own workload, work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Positive working attitude, eager to learn new things quickly, enthusiastic and motivated to perform, having a “Can do” attitude

The Selection Process

  • Submit application before 10th December 2021 to be considered
  • Longlisted candidates will be invited to submit a video application
    • Shortlisted candidates must be available to interview 10th January 2022 onwards
  • Successful Applicants will be invited onsite to meet their teams April 11th, 2022 prior to starting in July 2022
