Make a difference every day!

Invesco is driven by a pure focus on investment. It’s all we do. We focus on doing work that matters and being a firm that gives a voice to every employee. In fact, we make a promise to our clients and each other to create greater possibilities together. We’re looking for people who have fresh perspectives. Who can come together to share ideas, listen and challenge each other to achieve better solutions for our clients.

Your team

The team’s role is to undertake independent risk management responsibilities relating to investment risk. This could include the oversight of implemented actions, strategies and processes aimed to follow regulatory requirements for risk management and risk reporting, as well as ensuring relevant techniques for risk measurement are in place and that regular reviews take place to assess the efficacy of existing methods. Finally, it facilitates the identification, evaluation and quantification of risks.

Your role

Do you have a passion for numbers and want to understand more about how risk is handled within investments? We’ve got just the opportunity for you to get some outstanding experience, working within our Investment Risk team for a 12-month placement as part of the Investment 2020 programme.  This placement will commence this year on a date to be agreed with the successful candidate.

You could be involved in preparing risk reports and management information for key business partners, as well as supporting in the monitoring and analysis of investment risk results in relation to market, credit, liquidity, leverage, counterparty, valuation and derivatives risk.

Sound exciting? You’ll need a degree with a strong numerical basis for this role. If you have some basic programming skills, that would also be useful. We’re looking for someone with an appetite to learn, who loves solving problems and who has the ability to work both independently and within our diverse and successful team. This traineeship is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

How to Apply

Whilst a CV is important, we’d like to get to know you as more than just a name on a piece of paper. In addition to your CV, we’d like you to address a few questions that are important to us in a Word or PDF document:

  1. What interests you about a career in investment management?
  2. Introduce us to a topic you know about and tell us why it interests you.
  3. Tell us about a particularly challenging situation you’ve faced personally and what you’ve learnt from this.
  4. What does investment risk mean to you?
  5. Tell us about a time when you have analysed a large data set. What techniques did you use and what would you do differently next time?

This is a great opportunity for you to shine and to help us better understand your motivations! Unfortunately, we will not be able to consider your application without this submission.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 3rd October 2021
