About the opportunity

Jacobs Transportation has an enviable reputation in Highways, Rail and Aviation. The Highways UK infrastructure consultancy sector includes a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients that include Highways England (HE), Transport Scotland, Welsh Government, national and regional contractors and several significant Local Authorities. Our Rail team provides a comprehensive passenger and freight consultancy and engineering services to the rail sector, covering the full spectrum of railway infrastructure requirements, from business case and project development, preliminary appraisal and feasibility studies through to detailed design, implementation and operational management advice.  Our internationally respected Aviation team are active at all major UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, with a growing portfolio of overseas commissions.

Jacobs are looking for Junior Project Planners who wish to start a career in Planning working with a range of clients in the management and maintenance of programme schedules in technical consultancy services across the Transportation sector delivering a range of multi-disciplinary projects.

About you

As a Junior Project Planner within our Transportation business you will undertake a key role in delivering our client requirements.  Your role would include the development, implementation and maintaining of schedules.  You should be able to communications across all ranges and levels of personnel, demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadline, prioritising tasks combined with being a team player

You will help to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to supporting others across the team in delivering a high-quality service.  Showing leadership of a team of diverse individuals, actively encouraging new ways of thinking to provide an agile delivery environment.

You will play a critical role in the delivery and support of your Project Manager, delivering a safe working culture within project teams that you are responsible for and to promote safety within all aspects of your work.

As a key member of the project team you should have excellent communication skills, allowing you to maintain relationships with your client, your team and the Jacobs organisation.  You will communicate progress, potential issues and risks to inform and proposed mitigation to your client and internally.

Here’s What You’ll Need

As a Junior Planner you will:

  • Be a keen problem solver, with the ability to actively work a problem to find an acceptable solution
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills allowing you to influence, and manage communications at an operational level with the project team and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be able to operate within tight deadlines for reporting in accordance with company and client requirements
  • Work as part of a team to ensure project delivery to the cost, time and quality objectives of the Client and the Jacobs organisation.
  • Understand the factors affecting motivation of project team members
