About the opportunity

The Supply Chain Assistant is responsible, on any contract(s) assigned to them, for providing commercial support to the Supply Chain Management Team.

Providing general commercial support to the Supply Chain Management Team generally as described in the Principal Accountabilities below.

The Supply Chain Assistant will predominantly be working in the Frameworks and Tactical Procurement team supporting the SZC Project in line with the duties set out as part of this vacancy. At all times, the Supply Chain Assistant must operate in accordance with SZC rules and procedures to ensure that all contracts are administered  
within delegation of authority and the overall SZC governance I assurance regime.

The Supply Chain Assistant will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other team members at all  
levels and across all the teams within Nuclear New Build to ensure that the requirements of the Individual contracts and their impact upon the overall SZC Project are successfully delivered.

Principle Accountabilities

Providing support to the Supply Chain Management Team in the following areas:

  • Work with collaborative behaviours, in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation. 
  • Preparing Invitation to Tender Documentation in relation to specific procurement activities 
  • Managing and monitoring progress of RFO's (Request for Quotations) and ITT's (Invitation to Tender's) 
  • Assessment and valuation of Contractor's applications and the processing of payment certificates in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions. 
  • Administration of the Early warning process. 
  • Ensuring contractual deliverables are met. 
  • Review of Contractor deliveries Including where appropriate attending valuation and progress review meetings. 
  • Monitor and report on commercial aspects of the contract/procurement activities and/or project flagging issues at the earliest opportunity to the Supply Chain Manager. 
  • Review of Contractor deliveries Including where appropriate attending valuation and progress review meetings. 
  • Provision of advice and information on contract change including proposed scope changes, recommending appropriate action and producing required documentation. 
  • Preparation of commercial cost reports and progress measurement. 
  • Compilation of Supplier Performance and Lessons Learnt Reports. 
  • Administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to, IVALUA, HICX, CEMAR and SAP.

Nature and Scope

The Supply Chain Assistant is an important role within the Supply Chain Group with accountability to the Supply Chain Manager and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.

The Supply Chain Assistant will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other team members at all

and their impact upon the overall Project are successfully delivered.

Here’s What You’ll Need

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or have relevant work experience with ability to demonstrate a track record of successful contract administration. 
  • Experience of working as part of a team within a commercial environment. 
  • Experience of industry standard procurement practices. 
  • Good working knowledge contracts. basic estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling. 
  • Basic understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management. 
  • Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels.
  • MS Office proficient.
  • English language fluent – written & verbal.

Desirable 

  • Experience with the EDF SAP environment.
  • Experience with electronic tendering and the EDF platform iValua. 
  • French language fluent – written & verbal
