The Role

JLR Design can be split into creative and delivery pillars. Within the creative pillar sits the Studio Modelling function which consists of the Clay Modelling team, Design Visualisation & Animation (DVA) team and  Creative Aesthetics & Surface development (CAS) team. These teams work together to develop 2D drawings and engineering packages into Photo realistic images or animations and Physical properties. Opportunities exist within; 


Design Visualisation & Animation (DVA)

The DVA team are a highly creative and multi-faceted team that provide compelling and exciting Still Images, Animations, Virtual Presentation material and film assets, to the highest standards of visual quality. Using CG industry recognised software and processes, these creative outputs are used in presentation material that support Design in achieving gateways, facilitating Board reviews and a variety of other high-level reviews and events. From an initial concept all the way through a vehicle program to its launch to the world, the DVA team provide on-brand visual stimulus. 

As a member of the DVA team you will be multi-facing, interacting and collaborating with many customers both internal to Design and external across the wider business, including Digital suppliers. Using digital data from the CAS and surfacing teams, the DVA team are required to provide both creative and technical digital solutions that promote a vehicle concept or idea. As a vehicle moves towards the launch phase, the DVA team support a program with digital imagery, animations and film assets to highest levels of photorealism for use on social media platforms. Researching new processes, techniques and technologies is an important part of the role to ensure that the team stay at the forefront of Automotive Visualisation. 

Required

Excellence runs throughout our entire business and we would expect you to be the same. So as well as being on track to achieve a degree in Transport & Automotive Design or 3D Digital Design or Animation at 2:2 level or higher, you’ll need a clear understanding of practical automotive design, engineering and model development.  

Portfolio’s  

All applicants must upload a Design Portfolio to their application to be considered. This file must be no larger than 5MB and must detail on the front cover that you are applying for Design Studio Modelling and DVA. Within your portfolio we would like to see evidence of Automotive CG imagery or animation. We want to see a showcase of your creative thinking and approach to image/animation composition. How do you strive for photo-realism? How do you rework and retouch an output to ensure that it presents the vehicle in its best possible light?
