We are offering a unique opportunity to spend the summer as part of our Sales & Marketing team. Candidates should have a thirst for learning and challenge consensual thinking.  They should have a logical and analytical thought process and have an inquisitive mind. They need to possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment.

We are extremely proud of our track record in developing our interns to be successful long term members of our team, and hope to offer this year’s candidates the opportunity to join us after their studies.

The programme will take place between July and August, and is based at our London offices in the heart of Mayfair.

Our Sales and Marketing teams are key to the continued growth of our business, the development of our products, getting our message heard and managing client relationships. There are several departments within Sales & Marketing including: Third Party Distribution, Institutional Marketing, Direct Sales, Consultant Relations, Alternative Marketing and Central Marketing Services. These teams engage investors and their representatives to identify investment needs and explore ways in which LAM is positioned to meet those needs.

Role and responsibilities

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to work with all of our Sales and Marketing teams and be individually mentored throughout the programme.

The internship will give you a broad and in depth understanding of the skills required to be successful at our firm - from client servicing and sales support to relationship management.  You will also be introduced to various divisions of our wider business.

You will be assigned a project looking into a real opportunity, product or challenge we are encountering, and asked to present your findings and recommendations to a panel of senior management at the end of your internship.

You will have opportunities to attend business, training and social events to allow you to understand our company and the asset management industry, alongside building your own network.

Should you join us permanently after your studies, you would have the opportunity to spend more time rotating through our various teams, to eventually become a client-facing salesperson after a few years.

Summer intern responsibilities:

  • Work with marketers to best understand LAM’s diverse client base and strategic products sold within a channel
  • Research major trends within the industry to drive sales channel business
  • Prioritise extensive potential prospects list based on firm strengths and client needs
  • Work alongside Client Service Associates to complete client requests
  • Use various internal and external research tools to conduct analysis to further develop client relationships
  • Update quarter-end presentations for portfolio managers and sales representatives
  • Automate marketing functions to increase efficiency and streamline processes
  • Conduct competitive analysis based on qualitative and quantitative metrics

Applications and you

Our firm is made up of motivated, intellectually curious people. We are looking for candidates with an interest in Finance and the markets, and an appreciation for client servicing, sales support and relationship management. The inherent qualifications we look for are:

  • Consistent academic achievement, from any degree discipline
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Intellectually curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate use of Excel and PowerPoint (preferred)

Well-rounded candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds, who can demonstrate interests and endeavors outside of their studies, are especially welcome.

The programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in their penultimate year of study. Please note that you must have ABB in your top three A-levels (excluding general studies), and a minimum predicted or obtained 2.1 university degree classification (or equivalent if you studied outside the UK).
