Our work helps shape the economy
In Commercial Banking, we look after the banking needs of small businesses right up to large corporations and financial institutions. We help UK-based clients to invest locally and trade globally. We design industry-leading products to meet client’s needs and advise them on ways they can manage risk. We do all of this within dynamic economies. That means we have to think ahead of trends, adopt innovative ways of working and be ready for whatever comes next.
Is our commercial banking graduate scheme for you?

Commercial Banking teams put clients first – after all, their businesses are at the frontline of the economy. Our people are quick to collaborate and find solutions when world events shake up markets. They are also versatile and keen to adopt new technologies that improve the way they work. If that sounds exciting to you, this graduate scheme is designed for you.
What you'll learn on the Commercial Banking Graduate Scheme
This two-year graduate scheme will give you the wide-ranging knowledge you need to become a Commercial Banking specialist.
Over four placements, you’ll grow your knowledge and skills as your team gives you responsibilities, asks for your opinion and relies on your contribution. You could work directly with clients in a relationship management placement, help assess their business from a risk and lending perspective and learn about what options are available to support them in your product placement.
You’ll see how we’re building digital innovation into everything we do. You’ll also have opportunities to grow a supportive network of peers and colleagues, who are as passionate about learning as you are and work towards a professional qualification with either ACT, CFA, LIBF or CIMA. Above all, you’ll get a good idea of where you’d like to specialise and further develop your career.
