The role

Our UK Corporate operations team has an exciting new opportunity to support the UK Corporate Executive in the delivery of its risk management responsibilities through the provision of risk and control advice and challenge.

This is an integral role for the business and a crucial component of Marsh UK’s new 3 Lines of Defence Model.

As the UK Corporate Risk Associate you will have regular exposure to the UK Corporate Executive Teams, be responsible for ensuring the practices regularly review, and document, their risk exposures and work closely with the Marsh UK Risk Function to ensure compliance with the Groups’ Enterprise Risk Management Framework.  In doing so, you will be the central risk management point of contact for each of the Regional Corporate Areas and Specialist Practices.

We will rely on you to

  • Support the UK Corporate Chief Operating Officer ‘COO’ in developing a robust risk and control framework, providing the UK Corporate CEO, and Executive team,  with insight and analysis to support them in the achievement of their business objectives;
  • Work with UK Corporate Executive teams to identify, document, monitor and manage the risks and controls within their business;
  • Work with the Marsh UK Risk Function, as UK Corporate’s central contact point, in the delivery, and embedding, of the Marsh UK Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Work with the UK Corporate Executive team to articulate and monitor its risk appetite working to identify key mitigating actions and deliverables. ;
  • Manage and maintain the business areas Risk & Control Assessment process (RACA);
  • Produce regular risk reporting for UK Corporate Executives, supporting them in conscious risk based decision making, and the development of business planning;
  • Ensure that incidents, losses and near misses are appropriately escalated and notified, and undertake effective root-cause analysis on material incidents, losses and near misses;
  • Support Senior Management to ensure risk is considered in; new product and service development, business and organisational change projects and the business planning process
  • Manage the UK Corporate Conduct Risk Reporting process, engaging with the UK Corporate COO, Senior People Partner and Risk and Compliance in the production of Executive reports;
  • Attend and present at Regional or Practice Meeting regarding their risks when required.

What you need to have

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders e.g. Regional Directors and Practice Leaders along with other business areas such as HR, Risk, Compliance and Legal;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, incorporating a positive can-do attitude;
  • Task prioritisation and analysis skills;;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and preferably the Risk Manager Database (not a mandatory requirement though).
