Join Mercer as a summer intern with our investments team and experience working for a global company shaping the future of Health, Wealth, and Career consulting.

Our investments business provides tools, advice and delegated solutions to the trustees of pension schemes as well as other assets owners such as endowments, foundations, family offices and insurers. 

We undertake a range of projects including investment strategy reviews, performance and risk monitoring, asset transition, portfolio management and sustainable investing. Our industry leading team is at the cutting edge of innovation in rolling out new tools and services, most recently in the area of responsible investment.

During your internship you’ll support our analysts and consultants while building up your own knowledge about the industry.

This is an eight-week paid internship providing penultimate year students with an accelerated foundation to their career.

What can you expect?

  • Working with our consulting team you’ll see how we support companies, trustee boards, and individuals in making informed decisions about their retirement plans, long-term savings, investment strategies, and risk management.
  • You’ll have an introduction to consulting, learn from experienced professionals, and develop a breadth of skills over a period of eight weeks.
  • You’ll work on real projects with real clients, providing you with valuable insights into the industry.

We will count on you to

  • Our team provides advice and discretionary management primarily to defined benefit pension scheme trustees in areas such as investment strategy, performance monitoring, risk management and more. During your internship you’ll support our analysts and consultants while building up your own knowledge about the industry.

What you need to have

  • You should be a penultimate year student and on track to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree classification.
  • English and Mathematics GCSE (Minimum Grade 4).
  • Right to Work in the UK (we are unable to provide Visa sponsorship for this role).

What makes you stand out?

  • Ability to think critically and problem solve a wide variety of issues; analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop strong working relationships; you also show initiative and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment.
  • Natural proactivity and organisational, presentational, and project management skills with good attention to detail; proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
