An introduction to our Cyber Security & Data Privacy team

The world is changing fast and the way we live, work, communicate and socialise is changing too. A lot of these changes are a result of technological advancements, mainly over the last 20 years. With these changes come the need to protect people's data in a way that has never been seen before. Data protection laws have always been around but became out of touch with the modern world.  Advancements in technology along with demands for greater protection of personal data has led to a string of laws and requirements being introduced across the globe.

The European Union (EU) implemented the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018 and as a result, sent organisations and businesses scrambling to align with requirements or face huge penalties for non-compliance. The regulation has significantly changed the privacy landscape at a time when technology and digital business underpin human life. It has set precedence across the globe, forcing businesses outside the EU to also align with requirements where they meet certain thresholds. Businesses must now meet several requirements set within privacy laws as well as understand their jurisdictional reach to comply with multiple laws at the same time.

Privacy laws set the rules on how companies must protect the data they process. The laws are far reaching and cover a variety of areas including key principles businesses must imbed, the use of data across different countries, the management of electronic data, the security of systems and networks and call out the rights of individuals to mention a few.  It is no longer good enough to say, ‘we do', companies must now demonstrate compliance.

The Privacy Team offer a host of services to meet the complex needs of our clients and the markets they operate in. We help our clients navigate the legislation, provide support in understanding compliance gaps and support in remediation planning and implementation. The demand for this work is growing internationally and we're looking to grow and continue to deliver services to meet this demand, in a way that differentiates us from the rest of the field.

We're looking for someone who is interested in the privacy arena, who wants to get first-hand experience in working in multiple industries who need our help. We will support you every step of the way.
