You'll be part of a global data engineering and analytics community and work in cross-functional, agile project teams alongside project managers, data engineers, and other data analysts and industry experts. You'll work hand in hand with our clients, from data owners and users to C-level executives. You will be based in London together with the Solution and Data Delivery Team.

The Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) Practice is one of 10 industry practices within the firm and has a mission of measurably improving individuals’ lives, livelihoods and health and creating safer and more just communities around the world. SHaPE serves governments, donors, healthcare payors/ providers and non-governmental organizations on topics including health, public finance, education, defense, economic development and beyond.

Our capabilities are foundational to multiple high-profile initiatives and have been core to the practice in delivering organization wide transformation and strategic programs for payors (public and private), providers, education providers and governments. The SHaPE Tech and Analytics team fosters innovation driven by advanced analytics, user experience design thinking, predictive forecasting and new product development. We are a community of entrepreneurs within McKinsey dedicated to using technology to accelerate meaningful impact at our clients. Through self-service access to analytics and data, software-as-a-service solutions, strategic acquisitions, and a vibrant ecosystem of alliances, we are redefining what it means to work with McKinsey.

In this role, the primary focus will be on our healthcare clients and their impactful work in Europe and UK. The Solution Delivery team uses healthcare data (public, client and 3rd party) and analytics to answer some of the most pressing questions our SHaPE clients have today such as “How do we manage the cost of healthcare while improving quality?”, “How do we remain competitive in the evolving healthcare landscape?”, and “Who are the most vulnerable patients and what interventions can we design to better care for them?”.

What you'll do

You will provide data analytics expertise in client service. In this role, you will gain deep exposure to our Healthcare Insights proprietary assets and actively engage with front-line client teams across verticals to set up and deploy these assets.

You will be core to driving the problem solving that McKinsey is known for in an open and collaborative way as part of teams including other consultants. You will be expected to bring your perspectives and challenge based on your work and insight and get personal energy from solving our clients’ most important challenges.

You will be fluent with upstream data models and focus on downstream visualization tools, both of which are critical in producing quality outputs. You will ultimately contribute to knowledge and capability-building by working closely with front-line client teams to develop our next-generation tools using advanced analytics. Our Solution Delivery Analysts work to provide technical and business translation, systems thinking, and industry expertise in client service. As part of a diverse and collaborative client service team, you will engage with clients and/or client engagement teams on a regular basis, both on-the-ground and behind-the-scenes, to help achieve client objectives.

On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with our data engineering colleagues to identify and transfer relevant client data into McKinsey’s big data platform and support the execution of our advanced analytics solutions. Additionally, you will generate insights working on low-code/no-code tools and create visualizations on BI solutions. Over time, your role will grow to manage more complex asset deliveries and participate in problem-solving sessions with clients and consultants.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to developing industry-leading capabilities. You will collaborate with product teams to innovate on the end-to-end solution delivery chain, injecting QA tools and processes, increasing automation, and recommending user-centric product enhancements.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a quantitative field like computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or healthcare-related field is required; an advanced degree is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools
  • Working knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Domo is a must
  • Working knowledge of language such as SQL, R, Python or equivalent is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to process complex information, break it into logical steps/tasks and present it clearly to a range of audiences
