The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Sustainability Consultant to join our growing Energy and Sustainability team in our Swindon office. Method operates a hybrid working policy so this will be a blend of the office and working remotely.

With a focus on LCA modelling (life cycle assessment), you will be using software to model all types of buildings and projects including full new builds and refurbishments (we use OneClick LCA), reading technical information and Architect’s drawings, analysing data, report writing, and attending meetings where appropriate, as well as working with our engineers as we develop our mechanisms for measuring embodied carbon of building services designs. The role will also include helping to develop our internal databases of embodied carbon data including Environmental Product Declarations and industry guidance as well as liaising with product manufacturers to obtain materials information and carbon data.

Working closely with our M&E and Building Physics team, you will be based at our head office in Swindon which has good travel links to London, Bristol and Bath, with easy access to surrounding towns and Villages across Wiltshire and the beautiful countryside in adjoining counties such as the Cotswolds.

Role and responsibilities

  • materials life cycle assessments using online software
  • working with project teams to obtain necessary information such as material data
  • developing our internal documentation to streamline our embodied carbon processes
  • writing reports to present embodied carbon results
  • presenting results and participating in carbon workshops with project teams
  • researching the field of embodied carbon to increase our knowledge and sharing this with the team

Experience and qualifications

  • Numerically accurate and proficient in Excel
  • Team player capable of working in a multi-discipline team
  • Excellent at planning your own workload and dealing with competing deadlines
  • Good communication skills- verbal and written
  • A passion for sustainability
  • Experience with modelling software and LCA tools desired but not essential
  • Educated to degree level in maths, physics, geography, environmental studies or a related discipline
