My client is an independent investment firm, global multi-family office and merchant banking boutique providing tailored solutions for families, foundations and institutions across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. They offer direct and co-investment opportunities from specialist alternative managers and real asset operating partners in real estate and the innovation economy. My client has over 220 employees and 28 partners in 13 locations in 10 countries, advising on approximately $22 billion of assets across our various service lines - including investment management/advisory and family office services (together, wealth management), co-investments, merchant banking and fund management.

They have recently announced plans to merge with a US investment and wealth advisor, and a US asset manager. The combined business is expected to be valued at $1.4 billion, to have combined assets under management of over $50 billion and will be listed on Nasdaq.

Job Description

You will be a key member of the team, assisting in the provision of focused, accurate and timely legal advice and analysis, as well as in the production of contractual and other legal documentation needed to support the business on a range of matters. With the support of the other lawyers, you will quickly take on responsibility for various tasks and become a go-to person for certain matters.

  • Assisting with drafting and negotiating a range of contracts to support the development of the business.
  • Assisting the legal team with managing projects to ensure business and enterprise-wide initiatives are executed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Legal research.
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of our legal precedents and in-house legal know-how.
  • Working alongside the team with outside counsel where necessary on specialist matters.
  • Working closely with and supporting other operations teams to the extent necessary (such as compliance, HR, finance, company secretarial, etc).
  • Providing general support to the legal team.

The Successful Applicant

  • Law degree or non-law degree with GDL (2:1 or better ideally).
  • Paralegal work experience is a bonus, but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to deliver within short deadlines and with attention to detail.
  • Solutions orientated.
  • Team player, dynamic and collaborative with capability to work independently and take on responsibility.
