It has never been a more exciting time to work in the Mixed Reality & AI Lab! Microsoft is already home to some of the most exciting and diverse technologies in the world - Microsoft Teams, Xbox Game Studios, Azure, Office 365 - and we are now building the future of communication and collaboration in mixed reality through virtual presence technologies such as Microsoft Mesh and HoloLens 2.

In order to achieve this vision, we continue to advance the state of the art in computer vision, AI, neural rendering, graphics, human understanding, and deep learning - and publish work at leading conferences such as ICCV, CVPR and ECCV. To get a taste of our research, see talks at CVPR 20 and CVPR 21, and example upcoming work at ICCV '21.

The Role

The Mixed Reality & AI Lab in Cambridge is looking for Research Interns in Computer Vision, Graphics and Machine Learning, broadly defined. As an intern you will work closely with one or more mentors and have access to the latest hardware and software technology we are developing. An internship at Microsoft will not only help you advance your own career but allow you to contribute to exciting research developments in the field. Interns learn, collaborate, and network for life alongside some of the world’s best researchers and engineers.

Everything we do is inspired by an underlying ethos of responsible development for AI systems, which in turn demands an inclusive approach to design that empowers everyone to do more. Interns will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to our team’s impact on the world.

We are anticipating this will be a virtual internship and the intern must be physically located in UK at the time of their application and during the duration of their internship. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they often begin in the summer.

Responsibilities

Interns put their research skills and theory into practice. During the 12-week internship, you will work on an exciting and open-ended project that aims to push the state of the art forward. You will be expected to collaborate with other interns and researchers by regularly sharing their findings with the group, actively seeking feedback from others, working in a shared codebase, and giving a final presentation.
