Mizuho International plc (MHI) is the London based securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group, Inc., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd.  With a primary focus on client based activities, its wide range of services includes sales and trading in both debt and equity securities, the underwriting of new issues and M&A advisory services.

What we do 

Fixed Income Sales & Trading (FI) is a client-focused flow trading and solutions business servicing a wide range of institutional investors across the globe.   Our flow sales and trading business provides market-making and targeted liquidity to clients and makes extensive use of our e-trading platform to build the Mizuho franchise.

We have three core product-based business lines:

  • Rates Trading consisting of Swaps, European Government Bonds, and SSAs;
  • Credit Trading consisting of Flow Corporates, Flow Financials, Cross Over,  Emerging Markets and Local Currency & Uridashi; and
  • Structuring & Financing consisting of Structured Trading, Agent Lending, and the Repo desk

In addition, the Equities desk consisting of cash equities and convertible bonds completes the core elements of the GMK business at MHI.

Sales and Trading Internships

We have intern opportunities in both Sales and Trading.  The Internship programme is a 10 week programme starting in June 2022.  Successful interns will secure a position on the Mizuho 2023 Graduate Programme, commencing September 2023.

Candidates must be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available to start full-time employment from September 2023 and have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Sales

For our GMK Sales Internship, we are looking for undergraduates who speak English plus one or more European language(s), strong excel skills, who are client focussed, results driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Trading

For our Trading Internship, we are looking for undergraduates with advanced excel skills and coding knowledge/experience.  As part of the trading internship, you will also spend time on our Research and Structuring Desks. You will be analytical and results driven and keen to deliver for our clients.
