Assembly Systems Engineering at Moog Aircraft Group Wolverhampton

The Assembly Systems Engineering (ASE) function supports the execution of manufacturing technologies for the development of advanced assembly processes to include automation, integrated inspection, measurements, and data analysis. The ASE function has a global responsibility to research, develop and implement applicable technologies for application in the production operations across AG.

ASE Internship projects

The ASE Internship is a 12-month onsite placement based at Wolverhampton. Reporting to the Lead AS Engineer, you will be responsible for running projects of 3-6 months in duration with the objective to implement solutions in support of quality and productivity improvements in production operations.

Project development will be based on-site but the implementations you suggest will be considered for all Aircraft Group sites across the UK, USA, and Philippines.

This internship will give you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, working with new technologies such as robotics, automation, sensors, vision systems, motion control, augmented reality, artificial intelligence.

You will be able to develop your communication skills through interaction with technology suppliers and technical experts, with the potential of specific technology training as required for project success.

You will receive training for the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Tool and gain exposure to the wider business whilst you work alongside colleagues within Product Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

Skills and qualifications

  • Working towards a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science Technology (E.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Digital Engineering).
  • Flair for practical, hands-on activities.
  • Creative, problem-solving mentality.
  • Keen interest in upcoming technologies.
  • Willing to embrace and effect change, with an eagerness to make a positive impact.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • All placements are available to penultimate/final year students and the paid internships will start between August and September 2022, for a duration of 12 months.
