As a member of the transport planning team based you will be integrated within a range of transport planning projects and assisting in driving these projects to successful delivery. You will be a key addition to the team, contributing to the continued development of Mott MacDonald’s market presence and the ongoing growth of the transport planning business across the UK.  You will also contribute to the company’s wider portfolio of international projects.
You will be involved in the following role responsibilities:

  • Working as part of our collaborative project teams in transport planning
  • Delivering technical work for senior staff and clients
  • Overseeing tasks and activities that match your ability, expertise, and interest
  • Writing proposals and reports
  • Growing your knowledge, expertise, and skills in transport planning.

About You

As a Transport Planning professional, you have post-graduate experience working within the transport planning industry and have knowledge of the current UK transport policy context with the ability to utilise this knowledge through projects and client interaction.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Degree in a related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation
  • Good communication skills liaising with clients and colleagues
  • Good report writing and other written and numerical presentation skills.

Although not essential holding an MSc or post-graduate qualification in a transport/urban design related subject would be beneficial as would any experience working in major movement studies or the transport and regeneration market.

The Role 

Transport planning is a core service offered by Mott MacDonald and is an integral part of Mott MacDonald’s substantial transport business. Our transport portfolio includes some of the largest, high profile and most challenging projects in the UK and beyond. Our projects include supporting the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, improving active travel and public transport links in South East Wales along the M4 corridor, making the case for investment and the regeneration of key urban centres across the north of England, as well as smaller scale infrastructure and development planning projects across the country including the development of innovative facilities for cyclists and pedestrians in Brighton. We are at the forefront of thinking about the future of transport and travel and advise the Department for Transport on future mobility, innovation in travel, alternative fuels and transport technology. We work closely with local authorities and regional agencies to develop and implement strategies and plans which will support sustainable travel, regeneration and improved health and well-being.

We carry out significant numbers of transport assessments and travel plans in connection with development proposals and major transport infrastructure whilst we undertake scheme development and appraisal work for a wide range of transport infrastructure. We work for both private and public-sector organisations whilst we have major frameworks in transport planning, travel demand management and modelling with Transport for London, TfGM, Merseytravel, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Midlands Connect.
