The Role

Working as a Graduate Data Engineer for our digital ventures business, you will be working cross-functionally with business domain experts, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver leading-edge solutions to our infrastructure clients. By working together, you will help solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions in the field of physical and digital infrastructure.

Your role will be to support our data team in the UK and across the Globe. This will involve helping with the delivery of client projects but also establishing better tooling and quality assurance systems for continual improvement. This is a great role for people passionate about working with data and data systems, and who love solving problems. In short, we are looking for someone who takes pride in the craft and wants to be part of a team of talented software developers, data scientists and data engineers working to further the growth of our digital twin platform Moata.

As a Graduate Data Engineer you will have a chance to work with and learn from the other members of our team, including software engineers, data scientists, solution architects, and engineers. Within the scope of the projects delivered, you may be responsible for any number of these elements:

  • Design and build data pipelines from various cloud data sources to feed the Moata analytical engine
  • Partner with Data Engineers, Data architects, domain experts, data scientists and other teams to build foundational data sets and visualisations that are trusted, well understood, aligned with business strategy and enable self-service
  • Own and document data pipelines and data lineage
  • Support and Maintain analytics tech ecosystem (ETL and BI tools)
  • Continuously identify areas of improvement and ensure application of standards and best practices

Candidate Specification

To apply for this scheme, you will have less than 12 months experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:

  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Other STEM degrees

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Knowledge in data engineering/data science
  • Knowledge in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Software development experience in Python.
  • Knowledge in cloud solutions including serverless.
  • Knowledge with Time series/Azure/Geospatial and data analysis is beneficial.
  • Knowledge in Agile.
