Graduate Project Manager Advisory (Rotational Programme)
As a graduate project manager, you will play a pivotal role. You’ll be ensuring that our clients’ projects are delivered on time, within budget and at the highest quality.
Our approach to project management is based on the Project Management Institute’s Guide to the Body of Knowledge and includes additional components set out by the Association of Project Management and Office of Government Commerce. However, you will get to experience a range of project management methods, as we adapt our approach according to specific client needs and processes.
Our projects come in different sizes and complexities, so you’ll have the opportunity to gain a large amount of experience. Mott MacDonald is also committed to ensure that all new graduates get the opportunity to work across multiple sectors and as of this year we are introducing and rolling out our graduate rotational programme.
This approach will ensure that you will not only get to experience a wide array of project management methodology, but you will also see how this is practised across a number of different sectors. These sectors include:
- Buildings
- Defence
- Energy (including Nuclear)

- Water
- Transport (Rail, Ports and Highways)
Graduate Technical Project Manager
To support our ongoing growth, we are looking to recruit graduate technical advisors/project managers, to work in technical advisory, design management and project management.
We have a wealth of experience in supporting clients at the early stage of infrastructure and built environment projects. Our clients include national and local Government departments, developers, investors, and infrastructure operators.
As part of our commitment to creating social outcomes we partner with our key clients to improve the performance of their estates. This includes working with them to modify buildings to minimise energy demand and support net zero carbon operation, in order to address the climate emergency. As a graduate in one of these teams, you will support with the following activities:
- Engaging with clients, end users, statutory bodies, and other key stakeholders
- Project programming
- Feasibility Studies
- Financial planning and management
- Contract administration
- Developing client relationships
- Working as part of a team of advisory consultants, and supporting other members of the team

Candidate specification

To apply for this scheme, you will have less than 12 months relevant work experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines (please note that you will see a guide to the preferred degree disciplines for each role as part of the application form):
- Project Management

- Business Studies or similar
- Management or similar
- Energy related (for Net Zero)
- Asset Management (for Facilities)
In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience. We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
