We have been appointed as a partner on Thames Water’s 5-year AMP7 capital works programme.  The programme will improve clean and wastewater services to 15 million customers, as well as improving the environment.  This appointment gives MMB direct allocation of a multimillion-pound programme of water and wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects.

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic candidates looking to grow their understanding of Engineering and BIM processes & procedures within the Water Sector. A good foundation in 3d modelling, IT skills or computer programming knowledge would be of benefit to our growing team.  

Your role as a Trainee BIM Technician will be to work collaboratively within a design and build team to deliver the BIM outputs on multiple projects.  This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical and management skills, grow your professional network, and provide you with excellent long-term potential to advance your career.

Duties/responsibilities

People

  • Work collaboratively with members of the MMB and Thames Water teams and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment. 
  • Support the project teams understanding of BIM.
  • Contribute towards driving an excellence culture in the team.    
  • Engage with the MMB BIM community and develop relationships with the wider Mott MacDonald Group to enhance our performance.

Delivery

  • Assist with production of CAD/BIM design data, learn and understand the importance of quality control processes and implement within own working practices.
  • Understand Thames Water’s BIM/CAD standards and ensure the BIM/CAD output comply with Thames Water’s standards and quality requirements to achieve acceptance.
  • Learn and understand 3D modelling to support design collaboration, clash resolution, asset data capture, digital rehearsal and cost capture.
  • Implement CAD/BIM standards.
  • Understand and use the common data environment platform and process (Autodesk BIM 360) and manage BIM data throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Understand and use the standardised BIM element library, to support model reuse and a production approach, including input to identify affordable and low carbon solutions. 
  • Understand and take responsibility for cyber security aspects associated with CAD/BIM data and access.
  • Assist BIM Tech / BIM Coordinator with validation of CAD/BIM models from suppliers and integration into our models.
  • Work with designers and BIM Coordinator to manage the competing tensions of time, cost and quality. 
  • Learn and understand safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability within your BIM/CAD output.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and develop Thames Water’s Bim/CAD standards to achieve value and efficiencies.
