Graduate programme

Murphy are hiring Graduate Construction Managers to work closely with our site teams. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates to join an established Contractor.

Finish university and start your career for real, as you join the Murphy Graduate programme at one of our offices or sites. Plunge yourself into our world, keep your eyes open for every opportunity, and in just two years, you’ll find yourself well on your way to achieving a professional qualification with support from your dedicated Mentor. We are committed to the development of our construction managers and our graduate programme is closely aligned with the Chartered Institute of Building.

Duties

  • Assist with planning and delivering all work on a small/medium sized site or a few smaller sites, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
  • Assist with the management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of construction staff to projects
  • To monitor progress periodically against the project plan and monitor
  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required.
  • Provide periodic updates to clients on project/contract progress, typically operational in nature.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.
  • Liaise with the Construction Manager to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets, for the projected workload.
  • Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Assists in ensuring that the duties of the Principal Contractor are discharged in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
  • Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures.
  • Ensure regular input from the Construction / Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.

As a Construction and Civil Engineering company we have projects, big and small, based across the UK and Ireland. We want you to experience as much as possible when you join our graduate programme, there are a whole host of skills and competencies we want you to gain and as part of our graduate programme, there may be an opportunity for you to rotate around our projects depending on business requirements and project size so that you can maximise your learning and exposure to your field of study.

Requirements

  • Construction Management Degree or equivalent
  • Due to the nature of our work we require you to have a full clean driving license.
