The UK is on a journey to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Decarbonising the energy sector is vital to enable the country to make this transformational change. Here in Gas Transmission, we are at the very heart of enabling this transition and to deliver on this ambition we need to build a Net Zero Energy Workforce. We’re looking for 12 passionate graduates with a wide range of degrees, skills and backgrounds to join us in tackling the climate challenge by changing the industry from within.

About the role

If you are a successful candidate, you will join an 18-month development programme where you’ll undertake three six-month workplace rotations before starting your full time role. The programme is designed to develop your technical, commercial and business knowledge as well as your personal and professional skills. You’ll have real and challenging objectives and we’ll work with you to tailor placements to stretch you and provide real value to both Gas Transmission and wider society.

At least one of your rotations will be in the heart of our decarbonisation journey where you could be helping us demonstrate natural gas to hydrogen conversion, facilitating legal and commercial pathways to Net Zero emissions or researching and sponsoring new and emerging technologies. A majority stake in the Gas Transmission business is currently being sold by National Grid, so when you start with us, we’ll be own stand-alone business. This gives us an exciting opportunity to create an independent Gas Transmission business focussed on delivering net-zero and strengthens our commitment to recruit and retain people with the enthusiasm and skills required to deliver this transition. If you are successful, we’ll keep you up to date with this process.

What you'll need

  • Enthusiasm and self-drive
  • To be passionate about tackling climate change
  • A 2.2 degree in a relevant STEM or Commercial discipline.
  • A curious, questioning mind and an ability to think independently
  • Willing to relocate as and when the programme requires

You will only be able to apply for one role per programme (i.e. one graduate role) for this campaign. Please ensure you apply to your most preferred role. Those who apply for more than one, will be withdrawn and asked to confirm their preference.
