The role

At NFU Mutual, we understand the importance of developing strong relationships. It’s what we’ve built our reputation on, as one of the UK’s leading general insurers and financial services companies, and it’s what keeps our customers loyal. We are looking for an aspiring graduate to join our Internal Audit Department as a trainee Auditor, based in Stratford upon Avon, as part of our Graduate Scheme.

Internal Audit is an independent area of our organisation, integral to us meeting our ambitions, and protecting the interests of our customers. We provide assurance by calling out risks, asking the tough questions, and challenging where we need to. We make sure effective controls are always in place to manage our risks, keeping the company and our customers safe.

Job specification

Our Internal Audit Graduate Scheme is designed to give you both hands-on practical experience and focused technical know-how, to equip you with a balanced combination of soft and technical skills to become competent and successful by:

  • Developing an understanding of how different parts of the organisation operate
  • Building thorough knowledge of the business risk environment and the controls used to mitigate those risks
  • Developing relationship management skills, through managing multiple stakeholders from a range of different business areas
  • Helping your stakeholders improve their risk and control frameworks
  • Contributing to delivering the audit plan, providing assurance to the NFU Mutual’s audit committee
  • Supporting you in working towards the Chartered Internal Auditor (CMIIA) qualification
  • Providing a tailored local induction programme with your own coach and mentor from a previous scheme.

Person specification

We are looking for people who:

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong numerical skills and logical thought processes
  • Are self-motivated and able to work within tight deadlines • Have an enquiring and analytical mind
  • Are keen to develop, learn new skills and actively participate in our Professional Trainee programme
  • Build and maintain effective relationships
  • Have a positive attitude and plenty of ambition and drive to add value

Qualifications

You will have obtained a degree at 2:1 or above a level. Preferably a degree based in mathematics, business or science, but flexible for the right candidate.

The role will start in September 2022
